Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

TERRIBLE dinners. Caesar salad was romaine dumped out of a bag w/caesar dressing (not homemade) and some bland crutons. Veal parm dinner tasted like it was made that morning (or even the night before.) Cutlet was hard around the outside edges, and dry & tasteless throughout. Marinara sauce had NO flavor at all; it was more orange than red, with no seasoning...tasted like someone put peeled tomatoes in a blender and just heated it. I hate to say this...but you'd get a better meal at Olive Garden...and I HATE Olive Garden.

This restaurant is tucked away in a small strip mall next to the RT100 entrance from Snowden River Pkwy. The facility is not big, but it is clean and colorful. There is a quaint italian rennaisance mural on the wall. The service is prompt and expedient. I usually order out. They have very good pizza selections with good fresh toppings and a crunchy crust that's not soggy. The sauce is hearty and not watery. The calzones are pretty good here and so is the fried mozzarella sticks.
(4)Nancy T.
I came here regularly for dinner. I usually order the pastas. My usual orders are eggplants parmigiana and sausage and pepper pasta. Their pastas are very good and the sauce is very different from other places. I love their tomato based sauce. The owner is actually from Italy and as a regular she is very accommodating and friendly. The place is very family friendly as it is good for the area its in since we are not in the city. Family friendly place with quality food is a plus. You choose your own seating and order at the counter. Then they give you a number and they bring your food to you. The wait is usually about ten minutes, not too long.

Hey This place is solid. Good Pizza, I am from NY and it is hard to find good pizza down here, But this pizza reminds me of home. The place is never busy you can go in there and eat or take it home. It is in a nice location. If you like thin crust pizza you cant go wrong with this place. :)
(4)Shaun W.
While most of the entrees leave something to be desired, the pizza is better than any other pizza place in the area. The closest I've found to New York City pizza outside of New York City. Also worth trying are the hot subs. I'm partial to the meatball and chicken parmigiana subs.

We used to frequent Pasta Blitz when we lived down the street. Happened to be in the area recently, stopped in for lunch, and It was a a bit of a disappointment. It seemed like English was a second language for most of the waitstaff which made ordering a challenge. Enough of one to cause errors with our orders. As far as the food? The calamari appetizer was chewy and tough and the white pizza was good but had a bit to much grease.
(2)Omar S.
A decent local Italian joint, whose pizza is on my rotating list. It's a classic middle-of-the-road pizza-- it's not the charred New York style, nor the heavy bread-like, nor the thin wood-fired kind. Just a proper thin-crust. Topped with 1 or 2 toppings, the large makes a decent meal for 2-3 folks. I've had the pasta a few times, and it was reasonable, but to me this is really a pizza place. I'd award 5 stars, but sometimes the crust is a bit tough like the dough was over-worked that day (baking people know what I'm talking about). Friendly service. They run specials including coupons in local mailings, as well as (currently) Frequent Flier restaurant rewards programs. They're local / not-a-chain which is a plus in my book.
(4)Christa S.
Food was very good today and service was exceptional from one of the original people that works at PastaBlitz. Seemed she is really trying hard to make sure that exceptional service is provided to the customers. This needs to be something that some of the other new employees strive for. Pizza was really really yummy tonight.

I came here for lunch on a Sunday and it was reasonably priced and I liked their salad. I got their salmon salad which was large with a good piece of salmon on top and a side of garlic bread. My husband got their cheesesteak which was OK. My friends really love their Italian salad here. They have a variety of good options to eat here.
(3)Rebeca F.
Everything here tastes like it was taken out of a box and reheated. Not fresh at all. It reminded me of the pizza you'd get in a school cafeteria. I'd rather just make it at home myself.
(2)Robert D.
As far as I'm concerned, this place has the best pizza in the area. I've looked for New York style pizza all over the place and this is the closest I've found. The restaurant itself is nice, and it seems to cater to families with young children. I've tried several other things on the menu like fried calamari, spaghetti and meatballs, fried mozzarella, etc. Most of it is OK and probably 3 stars. The chicken wings tend to be on the thin (and sometimes overcooked) side, but they're tasty. The pizza really makes this a 4-star place. I really, really wish they delivered!

Pasta blitz is good! My favorite is the Mediterranean salad! Just make sure when you are ordering make yourself VERY CLEAR. Food is good but a bit pricey.
(4)Edward K.
My very favorite pizza/sub/Italian specialties eatin/carryout eatery in Columbia, Elkridge, Jessup Ellicott City area- Love this place not just for the tasty food but for the "we are your neighborhood place" welcoming, casual and inviting. Its a stay as long as want joint and our group sure does. Perfect for after game team get togethers and meetings. Celebrating decade of being part of the community and looking forward to another ten years at least!.

First time here and I thought the place was pretty damn good. Both the food and service was good and it's close to where I live. Upon walking in, there was a woman wiping windows, turned around and smiled at me, opened the door for me and said "Hello!". I walked in and the woman at the counter was very informative and recommended the Crab Chesapeake as that was a very popular dish. I ordered that and also ordered the Fried Calamari. I sat down and 5 minutes later the Calamari came out. It wasn't bad! Some pieces were a bit chewy which was fine with me. Plenty of lemon to squeeze out onto the pieces with marinara sauce. Tasty! Then a few minutes after that, my meal came out. Pretty damn good I tell ya. There wasn't a lot of crab in it, in fact there was little pieces all over the meal but at 9 dollars?! Every bite I took, I tasted crab. The penne was cooked perfectly and the sauce stuck well. The portions were big, that made me happy! I've only been here once but I'm planning to stop by again soon and try out other entrees!
(4)Brian A.
Owner tried to message me on Yelp to take down my review in exchange for a free pizza - yes offer me the least expensive food for his business to make with the least overhead. Guess what? Now it stays - raising the prices on your food while cutting corners = crappy food.

We were in hurry & were really aiming for subway - which is next door - but we saw this place & thought we'd support a local business. We ordered sandwiches. They weren't very good. My friend only ate half & tossed out the rest, which she never does. Mine was ok but the bread wasn't great, the meats were scarce & veggies non-existent. Maybe the pasta or the pizza are better? I won't be going back for sandwiches though.
(2)Nette H.
Quick service. Pizza was greasy! Salmon with butter garlic sauce w/ asparagus and angel hair pasta is on the light menu. However the sauce seemed quite heavy. Salmon is tasty not over cooked. Asparagus ok. My son had the Fettuccine Alfredo, sauce was thick- not a fan. Noodles were cooked well. So, there is plenty of space for large parties. Don't think we will go back anytime soon.
(2)Chris S.
Quick and friendly service, and plenty of seating choices for dine in. I've always observed it to be very clean inside. I enjoy the panini's and meatball sub. Pasta Blitz isn't my first choice for pizza...not that I had a bad experience, but I love Coalfire's pizza just up the street.
(4)Saif A.
I really like the pizza. I have to admit it could use like 10% more cheese but I always want more cheese. I would give this place 3 stars for the pizza and the 4th star is for the Shrimp Gondola. Its crazy good. Huge shrimp in a garlic cream sauce, and I normally dont like garlicky things, on top of wedges of crispy toast. I usually order a pizza and the shrimp and dunk the crusts in the leftover cream sauce. Its that good.
(4)Megan J.
It was OK. .. don't have high expectations for "spaghetti mama with sausage"... Otherwise it was ok... Pizza and bruchetta salad looked good though. Wish I would have gotten one of those.
(3)Janet H.
3.5 stars rounding up We had the fetticine carbonara and the cucine salad for lunch. They did the carbonara well! I did like it, but it was WAY too oily for me. I wish they didn't use all the fat the oozed out from cooking the bacon =P. Literally, I tilted the plate while I was eating (I know, poor manners.. can't take me anywhere =P) and I think I collected a good 1/3 cup of oil at the end of the meal, maybe 1/4 cup (and that doesn't include all the oil i did ingest). Maybe that just can't be avoided when it comes to this dish. It is a heavy dish, and it s VERY tasty,.. maybe use only half the oil? =P Personal preference I guess The salad was nothing special but not bad =). The ingredients were nothing to rave about, nothing really stood out as "fresh" either, but it wasn't soggy or rotting, just generic. I wish they did use fresh herbs with their greens. I think that would really spice up the salad in a refreshing way. Nonetheless, it was good way to somewhat balance out the carbonara. Oh and you get garlic bread with both those orders. I never understood why bread always comes with pasta..carb+carb = full customers? =P The service was nice, even though it's a order and pay, and sit and wait type of deal. They cam around and asked if we needed anything. I saw people eating pizza there,.. maybe I should've gotten that. Regardless, I think I'd come back here, but only for lunch, as maybe the portions would just be too heavy for me for dinner =P. Or I'll just get the pizza. (Monday $8.99 large pizza!)

I live down the street from this place and I have never been disappointed! For those who don't know anything about this place, you should primarily know that they are owned and run by real Italians, yes real Italians, from Naples I believe. The owners are a lovely couple and are really nice. As for the food, well, you can't go wrong here! Sometimes the Americanized stuff isn't that good, but who wants to go to an Italian place to get something that's American anyways! The pizza is fantastic as is all the rest of the Italian food. My personal favorite is the Crab Chesapeake. It's penne pasta in a rosé sauce with lumps of crabmeat and basil. It's delicious! They also have a seafood ravioli special that's really good! The bruschetta is just delicious! You really can't go wrong with anything! It's good food in a nice relaxed atmosphere. You can go in all dressed up or you can go in dressed like a slob! I highly recommend this to anyone who likes real Italian food!

Not usually a patron of Italian restaurants, but this one was cute and fit our needs perfectly. We had a gluten free diner with us who appreciated the gf pizza offering. I appreciated the spinach salad, good portion, nice combo of flavors. Definiely a wonderful place to bring kids. Friendly and super efficient staff.
(5)Sonia P.
I can't vouch for their pasta because I've had it before and it is definitely a notch below so-so. Their pizza however is amazing, I absolutely love it. It's thin, flaky and crispy with great fresh tomato pizza sauce. So I am only giving them 4 stars because their pizza is that good. Please skip the pasta!
(4)Sharon Q.
The manicotti shell is undercooked and a bit tough to chew and the tomato sauce is too bland. The waitress/cleaning person showed inconsiderate when I told her to stop waxing the tables near me!
(1)Charissa H.
This place is terrible. The prices are outrageous, the food is disgusting and the lady taking my order was rude and seemed bothered by my presence. The ceasar salad I ordered was served in a small bowl and I was charged almost $7 for it. Plus, there was only lettuce in the bowl--nothing else. I had also ordered some MD crab soup to go, tasted it before we left the restaurant, and it tasted as it were from a can--excessively watered down--with NO crab. I even left it at the restaurant and didn't bother talking it home. It was disgusting. My son had the pepperoni pizza and said it tasted like the frozen pizza he has at home. Not sure how these people are staying open.
(1)Kevin D.
Food is pretty good for the price and it comes out quickly. Great for a quick lunch break. Customer service is hit or miss, but most of the time it's not bad. Also, Tuesday's Special reads "Buy Any Entree, Get 2nd Entree 50% Off" but I was told by employee that it is only valid for PASTA entrees...

There seems to be two camps. One with kids and one without kids. I have kids and love this place. I can understand why those without kids wouldn't like the place. let me explain. I can bring my wife and son and meet friends there with their kids. - It's BYOB so we bring some good beer or wine, order our food, sit and talk, enjoy our drinks, and the kids sit and play. - Even better, you don't have to worry about splitting bills or any of that mess. You go up to the counter order your food, pay, and they bring it to your table. - If your kids aren't big eaters you can order pizza by the slice. - The food is also very reasonably priced. Are you getting a 3 star Michelin rated Italian meal? No...but you're getting good food at a fair price in a nice place. I think between me, my wife, and son, we paid $20. That was for sausage($4), meatballs($4), grilled chicken breast($10), a slice of pizza($2), and we brought our own wine. If you're looking for that special Italian restaurant to take your significant other this probably isn't it. Go to Little Italy in Baltimore. If you want to take the wife and kids out for a nice meal in a casual location then this is the place.

You know those days where you get home late from work, haven't hit up the grocery store in a few days, and have no energy to cook? Well those are the kind of days it's good to live down the street from places like Pasta Blitz. It's quick, easy and affordable Italian food. I think the pasta is pretty good. I'm not a meat-eater so I like the pasta bella donna (you can hold the anchovies) and the arrabbiata. Some folks have said it's not world class Italian food, and it's not, but honestly it tastes just as good if not better than some of the more expensive places and chains in the area (Little Italy excluded). It's a counter service Italian joint, go in with those expectations and you won't be disappointed. The owners are from Italy, and I think the pasta and sauce are pretty authentic. (I do agree with Mary's comment about the kids. If you go in the afternoon or early evening it is like someone wound up all the toys at the toys store and let them loose. But you can't fault the restaurant for that.)
(4)Allison M.
This place was great-fast, delicious and an extensive menu. Really legit Italian food, great salads too. Very friendly!
(5)Milan R.
Thanks to fellow Yelper Becca R for reviewing this restaurant. If Trattoria de enrico and Pazani can have 4 star rating, i fail to see why only a 3 star for Pasta Blitz ? For one, Pasta Blitz is much more spacious than Pazani and De Enrico combined. Yes, the parking situation is terrible on weekends, but seating is ample, and if you are away from the booths, you can insulate yourself from the rambunctious children. It is a counter joint, and the prices are nominal . The dinner prices are nearly $5 more than its lunch counterpart, and most entrees run anywhere from $7 to $14 depending on what/when you order. Food : Good food. On par or better than their competitors. The mrs was pleased with her chicken marsala, especially the white sauce. And i was happy with my spinach stuffed eggplant pasta . Their marinara is perfect..not too sweet not too sour. The pasta is cooked to el dente, and the cheese has a texture of taste of quality to it. The cheese slice is great too. The size is "jumbo" - nearly twice as big as the other "slizzerias" in the area. The chewy crust and a light,non-greasy cheese makes it one of the better pizzas i've tasted in the area. Overall, unless the cook is having a terrible day, you wont get out of Pasta Blitz being dissapointed. I can totally see myself making this my go-to Italian joint especially after the recent price increase at Pazani.
(4)Kevin I.
I'm not a huge fan of Italian food, but I love this place. The entrees are delicious and more importantly you can get the same entrees for lunch as a lunch special. Same portions for a cheaper price. And the ability to buy pizza by the slice is perfect!!! You must try the Crab Chesapeake.
(5)Lavin C.
First and last time. Not worth it. Frozen food warmed up. Poor customer service
(2)Roger L.
I love it here. Best Egglant Parm around. Always good service, prices reasonable and they have been newly redecorated. Order at counter and sit down, waiteress brings to table, no tipping allowed. It's pasta is really good, thoughtful dishes, and good ambiance. Cant really complain at all. It does get kid busy on Fridays, but hey, famalies eat here too. I dont think I've tried the pizza, but everything else is spot on.
(5)Tracy Z.
Terrible, terrible, TERRIBLE customer service. Just bought a pasta and got home and realized it was incorrect. Called them, they didn't believe me and they said that's what I asked for and confirmed twice in person. Two staff members blatantly lied to me. They wouldn't give me additional food until I drove back there to prove it. Gave so much of my business to this establishment and look how they treat this incident. Never going back. Highly pissed.
(1)Mary M.
I've been going to this place for years and used to really like it - with the exception of my last experience. Usually it is reasonably priced, the food is good and the service is adequate. I've never had a problem there until my last visit - it was a Friday night, it took 20 minutes to get our food, and the place was totally overrun with kids - kids everywhere!!! Don't get me wrong, I like kids, I've even been known to babysit for my friends - but this experience was over the top. When you put a bunch of hungry kids in a restaurant and tell them to wait patiently, the outcome is never good. So while I was waiting for my food I was watching kids run around screaming, unattended, and encroaching on my personal space. I also have to agree with Stu's review on the staff. There used to be a very nice lady who worked here who was always nice and attentive, but I haven't seen her in years. Since then, there have only been unfriendly people who don't have any interest in customer service. Bottom line: the food is good, but don't go on a Friday night and bring earplugs- oh, and don't place high expectations on the customer service either. - but it's worth a try.
(2)Jason F.
This is my family's go to when we are looking for a cheap meal. Every time we get the NY style pizza and it is very good. The caprice bread is also good. We have been too conservative with the menu and only tried the pizza even though we have been here a dozen times. The NY style is better than their other kind.
(4)Jac S.
My boyfriend, some of his friends, and I actually tried this place because I was playing around with the Yelp app on my phone one day, just seeing what restaurants in the area we hadnt' tried yet. Not noticing there were only 3 reviews, I said "hey this place has 3 and a half stars, not too bad," so off we went on a Saturday night. Let's see, where to begin? The place was SWARMING with parents and kids (which I guess is to be expected at a pizza place on a Saturday night, right?) and it was really loud and obnoxious. Ugh. Took us a bit to seat ourselves because we had a pretty large group and the tables were mostly pretty small. Once we got seated, we went up to the counter and ordered. My boyfriend and I got the Gourmet White Pizza (I think that's what it was called), which was topped with broccoli and onions, I think. It came out pretty quickly and was also pretty cheap, but didn't have much flavor. I actually found myself, for the first time ever, wanting to put salt on a pizza! haha I also got a side salad, which was OK. Nothing to write home about. A couple others in our group also ordered the same pizza, and I think someone ordered the chicken pizza, as well. I didn't try that but it looked ok. They also feature desserts by "Bindi" (not sure what that company is), and they had pictures posted up of some cute looking desserts, including sorbets, chocolate bear faces, cheesecake, etc. I kind of wanted to try something, but Coldstone sounded so much better, so we ended up there. All in all, I'd say it was so-so. Everything just seemed kind of bland. OH and also, there was NO silverware available (kind of don't blame them because it WAS busy), but when I tried to ask the woman behind the counter for ONE FORK, she was really confused and kept asking me over and over again how many forks I needed. It was weird. That's all. Probably won't go here again.
(2)Stu S.
went here again tonight. I have such mixed feelings on this place. Great pizza and even better cheese sticks. That's the only thing this place has going for it. Workers there seem miserable. No one says hi, no smiles, all business. I feel like i"m bothering them when i go there. salads are awful and so is their garlic bread.
(1)Denice K.
Solid counter-service Italian place, I'm surprised by the mixed reviews. One of our go-tos in the area -- definitely beats most of the big chain restaurants that comprise Columbia. Owner lady is really nice, owner man not so much. Good selection of pastas, hot subs, calzones & pizzas. Casual and plenty of space (open layout).
(4)xyzzy x.
As a former NY'er, I'm very critical of Balto/DC pizza (...and don't even get me started talking about the chains). However, I find Pasta Blitz makes a pretty decent pie - very close to what I was used to in NY. The entrees are all tasty, as well. Lasagna is pretty much standard fare, but I'm especially fond of the Gnocchi with Pesto: soft gnocchi, creamy and rich pesto sauce. Note that there's another Pasta Blitz in Clarksville, near Roots Market. The food is made very differently, especially, the pizza. While I prefer the food at the Ellicott City location, Clarksville's not bad (and it certainly beats Ellicott City on ambiance).
(4)sindi e.
Great NY style pizza - the ONLY excellent pizza in EC. Try it with eggplant and mushrooms - yum! The family likes the pizza at Ledo's too, but that is unique unto itself. Love the eggplant parm, also many good to great specials. Their salads however, need work. The ceasar is very disappointing.
(4)Devin E.
I went here for lunch today just because I wanted to try something new. After we ordered, we had to wait for at least 20 minutes before our food arrived. Not a good first impression. I'm not sure if this is the norm or if they just happened to be short-staffed today. We ordered a calzone and a cheesteak. The calzone was a perfect size and came with a bowl of sauce on the side. The calzone was delicious--oddly this was my first time ever having one. Although I didn't taste the cheesteak, I could tell that it was pretty skimpy. There was too much bread and lettuce and not enough CHEESTEAK. There's nothing more frustrating then a sandwich that doesn't have enough meat. If that were my sandwich, I would not have been satisfied. But since I enjoyed my calzone I'll give them 3 stars, although based on the long wait and the look of the cheesteak they probably deserve more like a 2.5 stars.
(3)Colleen D.
Really good pizza. Good cheesesteaks and fries. Chicken for kids is just okay. Spaghetti and shells for kids really good and lots of food.
